  What do I do ?

  hey guys, this is my first time posting on here but lets get started.. so i'm a 17 year old boy who currently attends meetings at a congregation in indianapolis.

  i live with my grandparents, on my father's side, because my mother died in 2010. i been attending meetings since i was 10. my mother got into the religion but then got disfellowshiped.

  my dad is on and off, he currently just got reinstated.

  Your parents know that they are legally responsible for your actions until you are 18 and are requiring you do as they say. That is your job for the next 11 months, to obey their rules. Even though your heart is not in it you need to provide the minimum of JWing while home. Sucks I know but its how it is. You can occupy yourself with games on the pad you use and kill the time. Service? Just let it roll and do a little.

  Make friends at school and do involve a counselor so long as they will respect your privacy. You may not need a verbal advocate yet, just a listening ear.

  Can you top this example of JW corruption?

  if you are a former jw elder, can you share any examples of corruption which you personally witnessed that were kept secret from the congregation?

  following is an account from a longtime elder named tommy who recently disassociated.. the minor daughter of a presiding elder in a west texas congregation committed fornication with a 19-year old baptized witness in her father’s home.

  the daughter had to confess to a judicial committee which included the aforementioned tommy.

  I don't think I can top it. We had the son of the PO screwing around before he applied for Bethel and making the girl promise not to talk. After he was in NY for about a year she came forward and confessed because it was so bothering her conscious. The PO's son was a MS at Bethel by then. They bumped him out and he was eventually DF'd. Not so much corruption on the part of the congregation until you take into account that he was caught with porn and smoking pot before he left for NY and it never came out. The other three guys were all reproved. Just another day in paradise.

  Memories of my mom and fellow members who are no longer here

  also,there are so many members who have passed away, it really hits home how life continues without this so called new system arriving ''any time soon.''.

  Ask your good buddies in the congregation to let you research tattoos on their Watchtower DVD. I think your independent thinking will sink this whole JW sham for you. You are too clear headed to fall for their scam. Get non-JW viewpoints because they control the input of JW's and keep them ignorant of the reality of the world around them. Always ask "Why?" and don't accept fishy bullshit answers and you'll be ok.

  After 10 years do they give up on you (hoping so)

  i think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".

  is that true?.

  i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.

  There is no set amount of years. Ten sounds so safe doesn't it? Well, it has more to do with how you are viewed in the community and in the congregation. If you are seen as acting like a JW or claiming to be one (either by the congregation or in the community) they have the thumbs up to come after you. It depends on who really "likes" you. Just don't seek any contact or respond to any contact no matter how long its been. Once they contact you they can turn back the clock as if no time has gone by.

  Brother 1: "We need to remove her for coming up short on her hours. That reminds me, did we all get our 10 hours last month."

  Brother 1: "So sorry brothers but I had to take the kids to Disneyland. I came up short.

  Brother 2: "I was busy finishing the painting on our patio benches and came up short. So sorry brothers. It should be dry in a month and I'll be right back at it."

  Brother 3: "I too, I'm afraid, have come up short. I've been organizing my porn collection. I think another 3 months should suffice to put it in order."

  Cart Witnesses vs Faith Healing Church

  today in liverpool the cart witnesses were in their usual speck in bold street holding out their wafer thin rags and books that they literally can't even give away.

  but today the city centre was flooded with some sort of black church handing out their leaflets and little invitations to a "special event" this sunday.

  i took a leaflet off them as they handed it to me and they were very smiley and cheerful.

  Pale, I don't know your experience with fundys who heal etc. but mine was to retreat and move on. We have a great many Pentecostals here and they were very physical. At one door a man grabbed a witness teen and laid hands on him, praying loudly. I went to the lad's rescue and got the guy to let go but it took effort. I was ready to hit him very hard if he didn't let go and stop praying over him. His mother was screaming for help. Generally these healer types can get the "Spirit" any time and then they are off. Though I don't like that witnesses won't talk about the Bible with people any more, I don't fault them for picking their battles.
